The Board of Governors is pleased to announce the election of three new students to the 2025-2026 year.
Mr. Cade Desjarlais is a first-year law student at UBC’s Allard School of Law.
Cade completed his undergraduate studies at UBC Okanagan, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in English. He currently is a representative at the Law Student Society and serves on the UBC Vancouver Senate as the Law Student Senator.
Throughout his time at UBCO and in Kelowna, Cade was involved in student leadership, governance, and his community, serving as both President and Vice-President External for the UBC Okanagan Students’ Union (SUO).

Mx. Jasper Lorien is a political science student at UBC Vancouver.
Jasper served on the UBC Vancouver Senate, holding several leadership positions, including as co-chair of the Senate Student Caucus. They also served for two years in the UBC Disabilities United Collective, as both Vice-President Academic & University Affairs and Co-President, working with UBC Vancouver’s administration and student leadership to improve the lives of thousands of students with disabilities at UBC. Jasper also sat on several President’s Advisory committees, the Faculty of Arts Strategic Plan Committee, and other university bodies, ensuring that student interests were represented at all tables.
Mr. Michael Sandler is a PhD student at UBC Okanagan.
Michael is a dedicated nurse, researcher, and Certified Global Nurse Consultant in healthcare policy.
As a PhD student at the University of British Columbia, his work focuses on improving healthcare systems, patient outcomes, and policy development. With extensive clinical and leadership experience, Michael is committed to driving meaningful change through research, advocacy, and collaboration.
