Kavie Toor

Kavie is a proud alumnus (BA, BEd, MHK) and staff member of UBC.  In his over 20 years at UBC, he has held many leadership roles and been responsible for leading over $200M in capital projects, including legacy projects such as the: UBC Aquatic Centre, UBC Thunderbird Park, Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre and many others. Kavie also played a lead role in UBC’s hosting of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic games, as well as leading on the UBC Olympic legacy strategy. What Kavie is most proud of, however, is improving the student experience and increasing health and wellbeing for the community and staff on campus through expanded recreational offerings and growth of the UBC Thunderbirds brand.

Kavie has successfully led a robust business unit, which has doubled the business revenues in the Athletics and Recreation portfolio through programming, events, concerts, rentals and partnerships. Currently, he is the Senior Director of Facilities, Recreation and Partnerships at UBC and has also taught courses in the Faculty of Education.

Kavie values service and commitment throughout his career. In addition to coaching many youth soccer, basketball and hockey teams, he has volunteered / served on boards for Tennis BC, Athletics for Kids, United Way and the National Intramural and Recreational Sports Association. He is a proud father of three, Anisa, Keshin and Zavian, and loving husband to his rock star wife Lorraine.
