Welcome to the webpage for the Search Committee for the next President and Vice-Chancellor of The University of British Columbia. This webpage is a place where members of the University Community can find information about the Presidential Search Committee and the progress of its work. Please continue to visit this page periodically for updates.
The Board of Governors is responsible for appointing the next President and Vice-Chancellor of the University. This is one of the most important decisions affecting the future of the University that the Board will make in the coming year.
The Presidential Search Committee is responsible for recommending a candidate for the role of President and Vice-Chancellor to the Board of Governors. The Presidential Search Committee will be guided in its work by the Presidential Search Committee Guiding Principles and Procedures, which were approved by both Senates and the Board of Governors. It is my privilege to Chair the Presidential Search Committee and to work with members of the University community on this most important task.
For this search to be successful, the Presidential Search Committee needs the input of the University community. This is a process in which we all must engage if the Presidential Search Committee is to recommend the best candidate to the Board of Governors. I hope that you will take time to give your input to the search process when opportunities arise. I hope that you will share your views on the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for UBC and I hope that you will share your ideas about the qualities that are needed in the University’s next leader.
The Honourable Steven Point
