Kavie Toor is a proud alumnus (BA, BEd, MHK) and staff member of UBC.
In his over 20 years at UBC, he has held many leadership roles. Currently the Managing Director, UBC Athletics and Recreation, Kavie is responsible for overseeing all 26 of UBC’s varsity teams (the most successful varsity program in Canada), all of UBC’s recreation programs, the department’s business units and over 2.5 million square feet of facilities.
Kavie has been responsible for leading over $250 million in capital projects, including legacy projects such as the UBC Aquatic Centre, UBC Thunderbird Park, the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre and many others. He has also taught courses in the Faculty of Education. Kavie is most proud, however, of improving the student experience and increasing health and wellbeing for the community and staff on campus through expanded recreational offerings and growth of the UBC Thunderbirds brand.
Kavie values service and commitment throughout his career. In addition to coaching many youth soccer, baseball and hockey teams, he has volunteered / served on boards for Tennis BC, Athletics for Kids and the United Way.
He currently serves as Vice-President Equity Diversity and Inclusion on the Canada West Board, and is the chair of the BCUSA British Columbia University Sport Alliance.
