Meeting Preparation

The Administration will provide Governors with the materials necessary to prepare for meetings well in advance of Board and Committee meetings.

Governors are expected to prepare for each Board and Committee meeting by reviewing materials provided and requesting, where appropriate, information that will allow the Governor to properly participate in the Board’s deliberations, make informed judgments and exercise oversight.

At each meeting, Governors should be ready and prepared to discuss the issues raised in the pre-reading material.

Whenever possible, Governors should advise the Board Chair and President in advance of introducing significant and previously unknown information at a Board meeting.

If a Governor questions the classification of an agenda item designation (either ‘open’ or ‘closed’), the Governor should convey the concern to the Board Secretary as far in advance of the meeting as possible.
