Mike Walker

Mike Walker is a business and social enterprise lawyer in Vancouver.

A native of Edmonton, Mike came to British Columbia as a young parent and raised his two sons in East Vancouver, where he still lives. He worked as a journalist and newspaper editor, and in diverse roles in the non-profit sector, spanning law reform, urban policy, community relations and housing development. Having attained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, he then continued his education at UBC, completing a Bachelor of Laws and taking up the practice of law in 2001.

Mike is now a senior partner in the law firm Miller Thomson LLP, having served in the past as a managing partner and a member of the firm’s national executive committee. His work as a lawyer involves both strategic advice and technical assistance to clients in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. Working with a team of real estate and social enterprise lawyers, he deals with challenging problems in corporate governance, real estate finance, and land development. He is a recognized leader in structuring joint ventures and social-purpose partnerships involving for profit, non-profit and government entities.

Mike has served on a number of public advisory and governing bodies, including the BC Housing Board of Commissioners and the Real Estate Council of B.C.
