Natalie Chan

Ms. Natalie Chan is President and Research Director of Be the Change Group, a Vancouver-based public and population health consulting and creative firm that she co-founded at 26 years of age. By combining three teams (research and community engagement, strategy and communications, and design and development) in a unique interdisciplinary model, the firm is redefining public and population health consulting to address real, significant knowledge gaps in the sector, and is committed to societal change that is inclusive of all individuals, as exemplified by its work with organizations that include the BCCDC, the BC Emergency Medicine Network, Jhpiego, and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

Natalie is also a family physician, primarily practicing at Three Bridges Community Health Centre. Natalie provides primary care and addiction medicine services to Vancouver’s key inner city populations, including people living with mental illness and substance use disorders, sex workers, and at-risk youth. She also enjoys teaching medical students and residents as a clinical faculty instructor in the Department of Family Medicine at UBC. In addition, she serves as an associate medical director for Odyssey Medical in mass gathering medicine events. This breadth of clinical experience and community service affords Natalie a non-judgmental perspective and approach to patient care that considers and addresses patient-specific barriers.

In 2020, Natalie received a Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 Award.

Natalie holds a BSc (honours) in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, a Masters of Health Science from the University of British Columbia, and an MD from the University of Calgary. She completed her Family Medicine residency training at St. Paul’s Hospital.
