Mr. Matthew Tan has spent over 20 years at UBC, first as a student, then staff, and also as a senator. He is currently the Associate Director, Partnerships, at UBC Athletics & Recreation, and an elected senator both on the UBC Council of Senates and the UBC Vancouver Senate.
Matthew’s work has resulted in partnerships with over a hundred different organizations and companies on behalf of UBC, generating tens of millions of dollars for the university and helping to elevate its brand through major events and noteworthy achievements. He has led successful comprehensive partnerships across the university and both major campuses, and has worked with stakeholders from every university portfolio.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Science from UBC and a certificate in the Mini-MBA: Essential Business Skills from the UBC Sauder School of Business. He is passionate about both current events and mentoring young graduates and students.
He is also a long-time Board member with GRACE (the Global Resource for Advancing Cancer Education), having lost too many close family members to cancer, and serves at present as their Vice-President.
